Talk to Your Doctor
Talk to Your Doctor Being informed can help you be more prepared. Ask your doctor about your high cholesterol treatment plan—including diet, exercise, and taking medicine. Nurses and pharmacists can help you avoid unsafe interactions or side effects between other medicines or foods in your diet.
Here are a few questions that can help get the conversation started with your doctor:
  • What should my LDL (bad) cholesterol goal be?
  • If it’s too high, is there anything I can do to lower it?
  • How often should I have my cholesterol checked?
  • Could a medicine, like VYTORIN, help me lower my cholesterol?
Bring the following information with you:
  • A list of all medicines you are currently taking or plan on taking, including natural or herbal remedies
  • A list of any allergies you have to medicines or other allergies
  • A list of any medical problems you may have

Ask what your LDL (bad) cholesterol goal should be.
Your doctor can tell you about the importance of knowing your LDL (bad) cholesterol goal. Talk to your doctor and find out what your cholesterol goal should be, and ask if adding a medicine like VYTORIN to a healthy diet and exercise is right for you.

VYTORIN contains two cholesterol medicines, Zetia (ezetimibe) and Zocor (simvastatin), in a single tablet. VYTORIN has not been shown to reduce heart attacks or strokes more than Zocor alone.

Important Risk Information About VYTORIN
VYTORIN is a prescription tablet and isn‘t right for everyone, including women who are nursing or pregnant or who may become pregnant, and anyone with liver problems.

Unexplained muscle pain or weakness could be a sign of a rare but serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor right away. VYTORIN may interact with other medicines or certain foods, increasing your risk of getting this serious side effect. So, tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking.

Your doctor may do simple blood tests before and during treatment with VYTORIN to check for liver problems. Side effects included headache, muscle pain, and diarrhea.

You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
